New Conservatory Bar and Terrace launch

The Vitals: Conservatory Bar & Terrace Sheraton on the Park launch

What went on: The unveiling of Sheraton On the Park's $250,000 refurbished bar and terrace.

What we’re addicted to: Extensive wines of the world and cocktails menu (guests were quick to try the Ron Zacapa cocktails).  A temporary YSL makeup booth kept the ladies looking their best and that Camilla Franks gave the top Sydney Dressed accolade to two worthy ladies.  One to Livia Tassanyi (9-5) dressed in a by Johnny red dress and the other to a lady dressed in a traditional Indian sari. More choice when you're having a CBD post work drinks. You can mingle at "The Great" communal table made from recycled Iron Timber, or stay out of sight in one of the rounded booth "concaves". When it gets warmer go al fresco on the outdoor terrace.

What we’re not: Conservatory Bar & Terrace at Sheraton on The Park ... it's kind of a mouth full.

What else: Gregg Arthur plays live on the piano every Thursday and Friday night. Open 5pm till late Sunday to Wednesday and from 2.30pm till late Thursday - Sunday.

Date: 18 August 2010

Location: Conservatory Bar and Terrace, Sheraton On the Park Sydney

Chambord Shine Awards Roundup

27 of Australia's emerging fashion designers in three cities showcased their designs for a place in the finals of the Chambord Shine Awards. From classic tailoring to the outrageously avant-garde, these talented designers created outfits representing the concept and visions of their brand.

A carefully selected panel of Chambord's Council of industry judges (included was Chief Daily Addict, Carrie Choo along with our Melbourne Editor, Kate Vandermeer) selected 9 brands for the finals in Sydney to be held on August 31st.

Brisbane brand Subfusco, was awarded the tenth spot through the public online vote via Facebook. Subfusco, will join Brisbane finalist George Wu, Talulah and Jacqueline Buck Couture. From Melbourne, Anna Campbell, Jolet and Limedrop made it through, Whilst in Sydney designers Danielle Van Camp, Luela and Lulu in Chains were selected.

The winning designers from the three cities now have seven weeks to create a Chambord inspired outfit and headpiece suitable to wear at the Spring Racing Carnival.

The winner will receive double page spread coverage in Marie Claire and a change to showcase their piece to 2000 consumers at 'An  Evening with Our Designers' at the Strand Arcade in Sydney. The winning design will also be worn by a fashion forward celebrity during the Spring Racing Carnival and the designer will receive sponsorship to take part in Australia's major consumer fashion festival in 2011.

The vitals: Authentic Design Alliance official launch

What went on:  Michael Young (designer) & Robert Backhouse (M.D Hassell) spoke on the importance of protecting Intellectual Property in their designs. A panel of experts fielded heated questions.

What we're addicted to: Those not prepared to sit back in a passive defeat, those committed to defending intellectual design.

What we're not: Rip-offs, replicas, copies, fakes – obviously.
