Our guest editor for July

We're smitten that Ms Emma Gardiner will be Daily Addict's July guest editor. For an insight on what's to come, we asked her for her thoughts on what makes an experience.  Her response?

Every once in a while, you experience a perfect moment. You look around at the laughing faces of your friends and take a mental Polaroid. This is it. Happiness.

Standing in the darkness at a gig, you feel a euphoric rush as the music hits you in the chest and the lyrics fill you. People bump against you. Your drink spills but you don't notice because you are transported.

Sitting in the warm light of a restaurant, a meal arrives that is just what you feel like. The waiter makes you smile and you order the wine he recommends. Wellbeing sets in and your mind stands still for once. You feel content.

It's not just about where you've been; it's about how that experience transformed you. About how it feeds you and stretches your mind. About the love it beckons into your life.

We think you're in for a treat.

A bit about our team: Emma Gardiner - Features Contributor

Emma’s career goals have strangely intersected. First, she wanted to own a café but after years working in restaurants, cafes and bars, soon realised that she didn’t want to mop ever again. Next, she enrolled in a horticulture degree with big dreams of becoming a viticulturist. She swiftly reconsidered when the mandatory ‘Tractor Maintenance’ module landed on her desk. Next stop: BA Communications at Newcastle University, a producing gig on the Breakfast Show at ABC Newcastle, a career in print journalism and finally a shift into media relations.

These days, she gets to write about all the things she loves best, including food, wine and film, and is in the midst of writing her first novel. Wish her luck.

When she is not tapping away at a keyboard, she is plotting and scheming about her next overseas adventure, recipes she plans to make and her next hot beverage (Lady Grey tea? Coffee from Pigeon). She is completely addicted to her black toy poodle, Dash, who is the furry embodiment of joyful abandon.
